The Highland Hike is our exclusive 3 day fully-catered and guided journey over Lake Heron Station. Through iconic high country landscapes, we follow the “mustering beats” of early station hands and overnight at 2 remote station huts, reserved exclusively for your group. Our hike is named after “The Highland Home,” the first of these station huts. In keeping with high country tradition, we spend the evenings in a rustic candlelit atmosphere, enjoying delicious meals and great company.

The journey takes you on a personal experience of the high country world. Our hike is for anyone with a good level of fitness, looking for a special outdoor experience.

This is big station country – broad vistas, grand skies, pristine streams and clear air. Our hike follows a route, used only by generations of station hands. No well-worn hiking trail, no signs, no route markers and no-one else! Our Highland Hike will give you a sense of exploration and a connection with the early pioneers of this land.

Your small group will be accompanied by a highly experienced and knowledgeable guide, who will lead you in safety through this unmarked country. They will also provide you with an insight into high country life – the history, the culture, the ecology and the farming story.

The exclusive nature of this trip means that many aspects can be tailored to suit your group. The walk can be lengthened or shortened in duration and may be combined with other available activities. Groups looking for a shorter walking option, may wish to do only a day or overnight trip to a station hut. Fly/walk options are also available. Our aim is to arrange a personal, authentic and memorable hiking experience to suit your group.
